Vintage lace, sand, rubble, steel, concrete

The quilt is constructed using salvaged materials and is structured according to earthquake hazard assessment maps of Victoria, a city with significant seismic risk. The quadrants representing the city’s highest risk areas, informed by soil conditions, infrastructure, building types, and population factors, are weighted with sand and rubble.

This site-specific installation was created for Artistree Biannual and installed in the Government House Gardens in Victoria, an area characterized by relative geological stability and low-density, affluent populations.
